During public comment, resident Bowden (speaker 15) told the council he wanted to alert officials to a social‑media post tied to a Nov. 9 rally that, he said, contained a threat to "run over everybody and kill them." Bowden said La Verne police monitored social media, identified the post, and that a person was later identified and arrested in connection with charges described in the meeting as crimes and "terrorist threats." "Because of our police department, they apparently monitor some social media outlets and identified this and knew that there was a rally going on," Bowden said.
Bowden asked the council and city staff to follow up with neighboring Glendora, where he said a related rally also occurred, and to inform residents about threats of violence. He said he hoped appropriate action would be taken and that such threats should be unacceptable to every La Verne citizen. The council thanked the commenter; staff and council later referenced public-safety follow‑up and praised first‑responder professionalism in an unrelated staff report.
The comment occurred during the public‑comment period and did not prompt immediate new council action on the record. The council did not vote, nor did staff present a formal report during the same meeting that detailed the arrest; Bowden’s summary in public comment described the arrest and called for continued information sharing between jurisdictions.
