Union County approves finance report and pays Rural County Days invoices, board to reconcile donations with budget amendment

The Union County Board of County Commissioners voted to approve the finance report and to pay invoices for the county's Rural County Days event that had not yet been included in the adopted budget. Chair noted Commissioner Jones was absent; the motion to approve payment passed by voice vote.

Staff and commissioners discussed how to code travel and event expenses and how sponsor donations should be recorded. Mister Williams said he had reviewed the expense breakdown and flagged a duplicate $750 registration line item that may reduce the total; he also said some purchased items would be reusable next year. Williams said sponsors had been told how donations would be used and that any shortfall between donations and expenses would be covered by the general fund unless the board directs otherwise.

Commissioner Jackson moved approval of payment of the invoices with the understanding that staff would verify all donations and expenses and bring either transfers or a budget amendment to formalize the accounting. The board voted in favor; the clerk will process payments and staff will return with reconciled records.

The approval was limited to paying the listed invoices and did not itself adopt a budget amendment; commissioners said a follow-up item will appear once staff confirms the final accounting.
