Lake Butler broadcaster asks Union County for support as he re-launches local high-school sports radio

Charles Reynaldo Jackson Jr. used the Board of County Commissioners public-comment period on Feb. 17 to announce that he and Chelsea Dukes are the new operators of WCR 107 LPFM (Lake Butler Radio) and requested local support to keep high-school sports broadcasts and student media programs running.
"I am the proud announce that Chelsea and myself are new operators of WCR 107 point .lpfm, Lake Butler Radio," Jackson told the board, describing two decades of local sports coverage and saying he wants to expand live streaming and hands-on media training for students.
Jackson recounted the station’s history, thanked prior operators and volunteers, and said the station reaches audiences beyond the region. He asked commissioners and local businesses for financial or in-kind help to improve production and to involve students in broadcasting.
Chair and other commissioners praised the station’s work and encouraged Jackson to pursue available resources; board staff noted the county could link the station’s site or project information on the county web page and help share outreach materials.
The board did not take formal action on the request at this meeting; commissioners encouraged continued dialogue and suggested Jackson provide a list of needs or a proposal the board could share with local businesses.
