The committee recommended the full City Council accept the low bid and enter into a contract with Meadows Contractors LLC for the Craighead Forest Park ATV trail rehabilitation (job no. 101148202601).
Committee materials recorded Meadows Contractors LLC as the low bidder and noted funding for execution would come from a Recreational Trails Program (RTP) grant and the city's capital improvement budget. The motion to recommend the contract award to full council was made and seconded.
A member asked whether the ATV referenced in the project was the same vehicle discussed previously; Jim explained the ATV will provide emergency access to trails and that the rehabilitation work focuses on improving water drainage and ensuring EMT access. "So the improvement work is really to improve some of the water drainage and to make sure that the EMTs have access to the entire park in the event something unfortunate happened," Jim said.
The committee's packet showed a low bid of $143,358.70 and a second bid from Crabtree and Sons at $174,832. The item will be forwarded to the full City Council for final approval and contract execution by the mayor and city clerk if authorized.
