District reports lead testing shows water well under state action level

Jessica Thompson presented the district's annual lead-testing program and reported laboratory results from all sampled water coolers, fountains and sinks at every building were below 0.001 milligrams per liter.
"They are less than 0.001," Thompson said when summarizing the elementary results, and repeated that the secondary results "came back exactly the same." She noted the district conducts sampling annually and maintains results in the facilities office and on the facilities department web page.
Thompson referenced Act 39 of 2018 and said the district tests water coolers and sinks used for drinking or food preparation. She noted the common action level cited in her presentation as 0.015 mg/L and said the district's samples were well below that threshold.
Board members asked about sampling cadence and site rotation; Thompson said locations are chosen for frequent use and that some sites could be re-sampled on a multi-year cycle (for example a five-year rotation) while maintaining annual checks at drinking locations.
No remedial actions were recommended because all sampled fixtures met the stated threshold in the report. Records of sampling locations and lab reports are available in the facilities office and on the district facilities web page, Thompson said.
