At its March 9 meeting the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors approved a set of municipal law-enforcement agreements (commonly called 20/80 agreements) and several budgeted purchases and acknowledgements.
The board read contract details and vote tallies for multiple agreements covering Bassett, Ionia, North Washington and Zoller, each specifying per-person rates (commonly $17.30 per person) and term July 1 through June 30. Votes were recorded by roll call for each municipal agreement and the motions carried without recorded opposition.
The board also approved hourly contracted law-enforcement coverage for Fredericksburg (1,020 hours at $76.50 per hour, total read as $78,030) and a contract for Nashville (1,007.5 hours, total read as $133,008.75), and later approved a 20/80 dispatch-services agreement with New Hampton for FY2026–27 (population and per-person rate read into the record).
Members acknowledged purchases and grant-funded items: the board acknowledged purchase of a 2026 Chevrolet 1500 pickup (specs provided; reported price $44,971.50), approved acknowledgment of an AR sandbox purchase for roughly $14,004.49 of which $10,000 will come from a non-tax Friends of Chickasaw County Conservation fund, and acknowledged a technology purchase (approx. $12,009.09). Motions to acknowledge purchases were moved, seconded and carried.
Chair read claims and payroll approvals earlier in the meeting, including claims totaling $124,134.74 that were moved and approved after discussion of one attorney charge that the county expects to credit back to the assessor's office.
What’s next: These contract approvals authorize county staff to finalize intergovernmental agreements and proceed with the administrative steps required to implement contracted law-enforcement and dispatch coverage for FY2026–27.
