Scofield council appoints members to Board of Adjustment, reappoints planning members and approves Servline water-leak program

The Scofield Town Council on March 9 approved several administrative items, including Board of Adjustment appointments, Planning & Zoning reappointments, and a town-wide offer from Servline for water-leak adjustment insurance.
Mayor presented five applicants for the Board of Adjustment — Dwayne Sutherland, Ron Warren, Brad Parish, Stewart Bailey and Matt Johnson — and the council, by voice vote, appointed all five. The council also reappointed Shane Moreno and Lorraine Bailey to Planning & Zoning; those reappointments were approved by motion and voice vote.
On utilities, staff described Servline’s leak-adjustment and optional waterline repair coverage, including that standard leak-adjustment coverage requires a 30-day waiting period and that customers would be able to opt out. After discussion of coverage levels and how the program would be implemented, a council member moved to adopt Servline for town water customers; the motion was seconded and carried with one council member expressing opposition.
Council also discussed a possible ordinance to add a 3% convenience fee on credit-card payments to recover processing fees and asked staff to draft an ordinance for consideration at the next meeting. No ordinance was adopted that night.
Next steps: Town staff will process appointments and reappointments, post notice and enrollment information for Servline (including opt-out instructions), and prepare a draft convenience-fee ordinance for future consideration.
