Tiffany Williams was sworn in as the city marshal for the City of San Marcos in a brief ceremony during which city leaders outlined the marshal’s responsibilities for public-safety operations in parks and municipal facilities.
Mayor Jane Hughson described Williams as bringing nearly 18 years of law-enforcement experience with the San Marcos Police Department and said the marshal will oversee safety across the city's parks, trails and riverfront areas as well as deputy marshals, parking enforcement and municipal court security. "Her leadership will continue to inspire trust, collaboration and safety," the proclamation text stated.
Williams recited the oath of office and addressed the assembled officials and guests after the ceremony. "I... do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the duties of city marshal," Williams said. She thanked colleagues and supporters and said she looked forward to the work ahead.
The mayor completed the ceremony by pinning Williams’s badge. The meeting record did not include a council vote or motion related to the appointment; the transcript records the ceremonial swearing-in and the mayor’s remarks about Williams’s interim service before the appointment.
