Lakewood previews 19th annual Earthwalk at Monteverde Park

Lakewood’s Recreation and Community Services Department previewed the 19th annual Earthwalk for residents during the March 7 council meeting.
Valerie Frost, the department director, described family‑friendly activities to be held Saturday, March 14 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Monteverde Park, including nature walks, seed‑planting, animal interactions, crafts and face painting. Vendors and partners listed include EDCO, the Water Replenishment District, West Coast Arborists and Sweeping Corp of America. The city’s Water and Public Works departments will staff booths to demonstrate conservation practices and hand out giveaways, such as oil‑recycling kits and kitchen caddies for organics.
Frost noted Woody the Tree—Lakewood’s mascot—will celebrate 41 years and the city will distribute a Kobe the Goat souvenir with completed event passports. Council received and filed the report.
