The Lakewood City Council, sitting as the successor agency to the former redevelopment authority, voted unanimously to approve the Recognized Obligation Payment Schedule (ROPS) for fiscal year 2026'27.
Director of Finance Jose Gomez presented the item as an annual procedural submission required by the state following the 2012 dissolution of redevelopment agencies. The schedule lists about $17.5 million in obligations covering housing fund repayments, interfund loans and other remaining commitments from the former redevelopment agency; final payments are contingent on the state's review and available funds.
"This item before you is known as the recognized obligations payment schedule ... and includes a total of 6 projects included in your agenda packet," Gomez said, noting the schedule aligns with state procedures to wind down prior obligations. The council moved and approved the ROPS and the associated administrative budget by unanimous roll call.
The approval sends the schedule to the state for review; if the state approves, specified payments will proceed in the next fiscal year according to state guidance.
