Wimberley council approves investment report, election contracts and authorizes manager to implement budget changes

WIMBERLEY — At its Jan. 15 meeting the Wimberley City Council approved routine financial and election items and authorized the city manager to implement budget changes discussed in executive session.

Investment report: City staff summarized a strong first-quarter investment performance for 2026 and compared the results with last year, calling out sales-tax gains. Council voted 4-0 to approve the quarterly investment report.

Election services and joint agreement: City Secretary Tammy Heller presented the annual contract with the Hays County Elections Administrator to conduct the May election and an accompanying joint election agreement that shares costs, equipment and personnel across political subdivisions. Both items were unchanged from previous years and the council approved them 4-0. Staff said the city's minimum share for the joint agreement is $1,000 and that the final cost will depend on voter volume.

Executive session and budget authority: The council went into executive session under Texas Government Code §551.074 to discuss personnel matters related to parks-department assignments. After returning to open session, the council authorized the city manager to make the budget changes discussed in executive session; the motion passed 4-0.

What’s next: Staff will bring the ordinance to call the May election to the Feb. 5 council meeting and will implement the authorized budget adjustments.
