Council adopts ordinance 4014 to align Edmond code with state industrial stormwater permit

The Edmond City Council on Nov. 13 approved Ordinance No. 4014, amending the municipal code to add language required by the state OPDES multi-sector general permit (OKR 05) for industrial stormwater discharges.
Steve Lawrence, director of engineering, told the council the change adds code language necessary to satisfy a permit condition in Edmond's OKR 05 stormwater permit as issued by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality. Lawrence said the city and the state department jointly enforce industrial stormwater requirements and that there are currently seven industrial sites in Edmond covered by the permit; he also said the ordinance does not increase the burden on city staff.
The council moved, seconded and voted to adopt the ordinance during the public hearing portion of the meeting.
