Porter Road flagged as safety concern; council urged to reprioritize engineering work

Councilors discussed Porter Road as an ongoing safety and standards issue. Members said engineering work began about three years ago but that other priorities delayed progress.
"It's been a problem for a long time. 3 years ago we've started working on engineering a solution but other things have taken priority," a council member said. Joseph Bjornn noted that some stretches of Porter Road "are not up to code, down to only 17 ft. in some places." Staff said Painted Sky had completed preliminary work and recommended continuing with that firm and assigning Porter Road a priority level (priority 3) to move the project forward.
No vote or formal funding authorization was recorded in the session; staff and council agreed to push the project forward in planning and prioritize the engineering work to advance repair options.
