Council approves MDOT-required transit policy update, PPE purchase and local grants

At its Nov. 7 meeting the Greenville City Council approved several administrative and procurement items, including a transit drug-and-alcohol testing policy update required by MDOT, the purchase of firefighting personal protective equipment (PPE), and two local grants.
Council approved the updated MDOT-required drug and alcohol testing policy for the Greenville Transit Department; Councilperson Lehman moved approval and Councilperson Moss seconded. The motion was recorded as unanimously adopted.
On procurement, the council awarded a bid for five complete sets of firefighting PPE to Conway Sheild of New Berlin, Wisconsin, meeting specifications for a total not to exceed $18,557.15; Councilperson Moss moved the award and Councilperson Johnson seconded. The motion was unanimously adopted.
The council also accepted two grants from the Greenville Area Community Foundation: one to add features to the city splash pad and another to complete Neighborhood Trail Connectors at Clay Street and Elm Street. In both cases the City Manager was authorized to sign grant documents on the city’s behalf; Councilperson Moss moved both actions and motions passed unanimously.
