Landowner objects after Oneida County updates parcel address following recorded plat

Paul Werner, the landowner of parcel NO-471 in the Town of Nokomis, told the Oneida County Land Records Committee on Jan. 13 that his property’s site address was changed from 2241 CTH Y to 2105 Piper Mae Lane on Dec. 3, 2025 and that he found the change unacceptable. Werner was in attendance specifically for that agenda item, the committee record shows.
County staff member Sara Chiamulera and committee members explained that the County Plat "Riley's Northern Shores" (Document #863915), recorded with the Oneida County Register of Deeds on Aug. 12, 2025, created a private road over an existing easement used by Werner to access his parcel and structures. Chiamulera told the committee the Land Information Office added the new private road name, Piper Mae LN, to the addressing system in accordance with Oneida County Code Chapter 16, "Road Naming and Uniform Address System." According to the office, the address update was implemented to support emergency response and mail service and is required under the county code.
The committee did not alter the addressing decision during the meeting. The record shows the exchange was presented as a public comment and staff explanation; no formal appeal or amendment to the addressing decision was recorded at the meeting. The committee proceeded with its agenda after hearing Werner’s concerns.
