Cornish — The Cornish Town Council unanimously approved the minutes of its Feb. 4 regular meeting and authorized payment of bills totaling $7,765.44 at its Feb. 18, 2026 meeting at Cornish Town Hall.
Councilmember John Forsgren moved to approve the minutes from Feb. 4; Councilmember Brad Fisher seconded, and the motion passed with Councilmembers Christopher Buxton, Colton Creech (via Zoom), Fisher, Forsgren and Mayor Matt Leak voting Aye.
The council then considered payment of bills totaling $7,765.44. Councilmember Christopher Buxton moved to approve the bills; Councilmember Fisher seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
In reports, Clerk Madi Smith was not present. "Madi was out of town so there was no staff report at the meeting," the minutes state.
On planning and zoning, Councilmember Colton Creech updated the council on a proposed McKendricks subdivision near the Heiners. Creech said the developer was told it would need to deed a road to the town but regarded the roadway as a private lane; the council discussed whether the town's long-term maintenance of the lane changes its status.
Creech also flagged the town's garbage removal contract with Econo Waste, which he said expires in a couple of years. He said he would forward the current contract to the council so members can review it and assess whether there are options for early termination.
Councilmember Buxton reported progress on parks and town-hall matters: he obtained references from gWorks and will coordinate onboarding discussions with the mayor, said he will begin preparing the RAPZ application and solicit bids for a park shed and other spring improvements, and reported he had located the remaining invoices related to Master Plan reimbursement.
Councilmember Forsgren reported a mechanical issue starting the snow plow but said he was able to get it running and plow the roads. Councilmember Fisher said he had nothing to report on water, and Mayor Leak had no updates.
The council set its next meeting for March 4, 2026. Councilmember Fisher moved to adjourn; Councilmember Forsgren seconded. The motion passed unanimously and the meeting concluded at 7:59 p.m.
