Alpena County approves temporary waiver of certain collection fees for qualified seniors

The Alpena County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 24 adopted Resolution #26-04 to waive collection fees and interest in excess of those charged prior to Feb. 15, 2026, on 2025 property taxes currently being collected for qualified senior citizens and certain disabled and veteran groups through April 30, 2026.
Treasurer Cindy Cebula presented the resolution, which specifies eligibility as “qualified senior citizens – 62 years or older, paraplegics, eligible servicemen, and eligible veterans, and blind and totally and permanently disabled as defined in the State Income Tax Act who have filed Homestead Property Tax Credit prior to February 15, 2026.” Commissioner Dan Ludlow moved adoption and Commissioner Lucille Bray supported the motion; the board approved the resolution as presented (motion carried).
