Members of the Wapello County Emergency Medical Services Advisory Council discussed creating an EMS Forum intended for responders and community education during the Dec. 9, 2025 meeting.
Tim Richmond reported that the council’s Google app used for community education is again operational and that Racquel and Peter Reiter have been talking about how to use the app for outreach. Council members explored whether the forum should be limited to local responders or include services from other counties to share best practices and operational approaches.
Jean Dell, identified in the minutes as a community member, said she has a group that can help put such an event together. Members suggested the forum could include brief histories and current overviews from fire, dispatch, EMS and police, and that it could identify local issues and possible solutions. Cindy Hewitt and Bill Hoffman Jr. were noted as working to arrange a meeting with the county public-transport provider (10-15 Transit) and discussed limitations of Quick Rides taxi service for transporting patients at night.
No formal motion or timeline for a forum was recorded; the minutes note the forum as a proposal and direct committee members to continue planning work and report back at the next meeting.
