Hudson County caucus approves acceptance of several federal and state grants, including $2.39M HOME allocation

The Hudson County Board of County Commissioners read and moved multiple grant-acceptance resolutions during its Feb. 11 caucus, including a $2,388,560.49 U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Home Investment Partnerships Program award and a $566,542.01 New Jersey 911 Next Generation Grant Program application.
County Administration staff told commissioners the HOME program is an open application process and that Jersey City projects have received County HOME funds when the city provided an initial contribution. “The City normally comes in first,” Director Toon said. “We have put money into Jersey City projects when there was a demonstrated need.”
Other grant- and award-related items on the agenda included an Emergency Solutions Grant for FY2024 ($177,195), a Mail-In Voter Education Program grant application ($309,090), and a Small National Endowment for the Arts reallocation of $7,000 to different grantees. The clerk read scopes and timeframes for each item as the Board moved them forward.
Commissioners generally moved routine fiscal and purchasing resolutions as a slate. Administrator Abraham Antun and legal counsel Donato Battista told the Board that the County plans to continue an open application intake for HOME funds and that staff will follow up on allocation decisions during implementation.
