The Satsuma City Council unanimously approved several routine and legal actions at its Dec. 2 regular meeting, including payment of $51,081.21 in city bills, awarding a bid for trash-ramp containers and renewing a line of credit with Regions Bank. The council also voted to intervene as a defendant in the Simplified Seller Use Tax Litigation.
Mayor Mark Barlow opened the meeting and members moved through business on a unanimous basis. Councilmember Jason Skelton moved to approve the meeting agenda; Councilmember Shirley Presnall seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The council then approved the Nov. 18 meeting minutes on a motion by Councilmember Jake O’Rear, seconded by Councilmember Bert Taylor.
On financial housekeeping, the council approved payment of $51,081.21 in outstanding bills after a motion by O’Rear and a second by Taylor. On procurement, Councilmember Randy Little moved to award the bid for containers at the city’s trash ramp (Resolution 2025-12-01); Councilmember Bert Taylor seconded and the resolution passed unanimously.
For the city’s banking, Councilmember Jake O’Rear moved to renew a line of credit with Regions Bank (Resolution 2025-12-02); Councilmember Taylor seconded and the council approved the renewal without dissent. The council also approved Resolution 2025-12-03 to intervene as a defendant in the Simplified Seller Use Tax Litigation after a motion from Councilmember Little and a second from Councilmember Skelton.
The meeting record shows no roll-call dissent on any of these items; minutes indicate each motion “carried unanimously.” Actions were recorded with the following movers and seconders: agenda (Skelton/Presnall), minutes (O’Rear/Taylor), bills payment (O’Rear/Taylor), containers bid (Little/Taylor), line-of-credit renewal (O’Rear/Taylor) and litigation intervention (Little/Skelton). The council adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
The approvals keep routine city business moving and position Satsuma to participate in the pending seller use tax litigation; the minutes do not record any debate or conditions attached to the approvals.
