The board also directed County Manager Thomas Weaver to investigate recent reports of damaged grave markers to determine whether the damage resulted from county mower operations or third‑party vandalism.
No final ordinance vote occurred on Aug. 5; the minutes record the start of the process and note that the second reading will be at the next work session with a subsequent vote at a regular meeting. Staff said they will report findings on the cause of the damage and suggested steps to prevent future incidents.
The county asked that the draft ordinance be posted online for transparency and public comment during the 90‑day process.
