The Commission of the Unified Government of Cusseta–Chattahoochee County voted unanimously on Nov. 4, 2025, to terminate a contract with a Fort Benning stray facility and approved several routine and programmatic motions during a meeting at 215 McNaughton St.
Chairman Charles Coffey opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m. and commissioners approved six sets of previous minutes by unanimous votes. In new business, Commissioner Gerald Douglas moved to end the Fort Benning stray facility contract after staff reported the county could not meet the facility’s requirements; Commissioner Jason Frost seconded the motion, and the board voted unanimously to terminate the agreement and to coordinate next steps and notice through staff.
The commission also unanimously approved the appointment of Teresa Williams to the Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Library Board of Trustees to complete a term that began Dec. 5, 2023, and runs through Dec. 31, 2026. The appointment was moved by Commissioner Jason Frost and seconded by Commissioner Timothy Biddle; the action was memorialized in a Nov. 4 resolution included in the record.
Commissioners authorized county staff to pursue an Economic Development Grant for sewer infrastructure after a motion by Commissioner Damon Hoyte, seconded by Commissioner Frost; details of the application (amounts, deadlines, matching requirements) were not specified in the meeting record and remain to be developed by staff.
The commission also approved purchase of a new Ford Maverick for the Public Works/Water department. Commissioner Timothy Biddle moved the procurement; Commissioner Gerald Douglas seconded, and the motion carried unanimously. A vendor quote in the meeting materials shows a 2025 Ford Maverick priced at $29,505 (invoice/quote dated Sept. 3, 2025, from Brannen Motor Company) and notes government tax/title exemptions; the commission record did not enumerate freight, handling, or final delivery charges.
The commission entered executive session at 9:22 a.m. on legal and land matters; the board reconvened at 9:50 a.m. Chairman Coffey stated that the closed-session topics were within the legal exceptions to Georgia’s open meetings law and that no votes were taken while in executive session. The meeting adjourned at 9:54 a.m.
Motions recorded in the official minutes included multiple routine minutes approvals, the contract termination for the Fort Benning stray facility, the library board appointment of Teresa Williams, authorization to pursue the sewer grant, approval to purchase the vehicle, and the motions to enter and exit executive session. The minutes reflect unanimous votes on all listed motions.
