Marquette County Board adopts 2026–2030 Strategic Plan; vote 16–0 with one abstention

The Marquette County Board of Supervisors voted to adopt the 2026'2030 Marquette County Strategic Plan on Jan. 20, 2026, after a brief presentation by the plan consultant. The resolution adopting the plan (Resolution No. 1-2026) passed by roll call: Ayes 16, Noes 0, Abstain 1 (Kathleen McGwin).

Consultant Allyson Brunette summarized edits made since the board's Dec. 16, 2025 review. She said the revisions include clarified language throughout the document, moving county-specific examples into an appendix, changes to the budget process language, visual formatting updates, and addition of a projected year tied to each listed goal. Brunette also provided a new four-page summary intended to present goals and initiatives for quick reference and said she would supply 40 professionally printed copies for county distribution.

The resolution record notes that county supervisors, staff, stakeholders and local businesses worked with Allyson Brunette Consulting over several months to develop the plan. The board'entered the plan's WHEREAS statements into the record and formally adopted the plan under Resolution No. 1-2026. A copy of the full Strategic Plan is available on the county website and by request.

Administrator Ron Barger acknowledged Brunette's work and said she recommended a consulting firm to undertake the county's upcoming Comprehensive Plan. The board did not take additional formal action on implementation at the meeting; steps to implement the newly adopted strategic plan were not specified in the minutes.

The board meeting lasted about 27 minutes and adjourned at 7:27 p.m.
