Mike Raddatz, chair, opened the meeting at 9:00 a.m. and the committee voted to approve the resolution (moved by John Bennett; seconded by Lance Achterberg). The motion carried.
Brian Trebiatowski, an agency official who presented the resolution to the committee, said the statewide initiative favors increases to general transportation aids over new, narrowly targeted programs that attach specific qualifying criteria. The committee’s action was procedural: it approved the resolution and scheduled it for consideration by the county board in February.
The resolution as described to the committee seeks to persuade state legislators to provide funding that local governments can apply more broadly, with the intention of making long‑term local transportation planning and maintenance less dependent on categorical grants. The committee did not vote on any budgetary changes at the meeting; its action was to transmit the resolution to the full board.
