Grant County commissioners approve routine financial items, table OPEH&W special assessment to Feb. 9

The Grant County Board of Commissioners on Thursday approved a slate of routine financial items and reports and voted to table consideration of a special assessment payment for the Oklahoma Public Employees’ Health & Welfare (OPEH&W) until a Feb. 9 meeting.
Chair Steve Stinson called the meeting to order at 9:00 a.m. in Medford and confirmed a quorum with Vice-Chair Keith McClure and Commissioner Craig Fredrick present. Secretary Kerstin Orcutt confirmed the agenda had been posted in accordance with Title 25, 301-314 O.S.
The board approved a transfer of appropriations after Commissioner Craig Fredrick moved the motion and Chair Stinson seconded; the motion carried with all three commissioners recorded as voting aye. Vice-Chair McClure moved to approve the minutes of the Feb. 2 regular meeting; Stinson seconded. That motion carried with two ayes and one abstention (Fredrick).
Other routine approvals included monthly appropriations and the Monthly Officers Report for January 2026; a Court Clerk Records Management & Preservation claim for January 2026 in the amount of $14,745.19; regular payroll for officers and employees for January 2026 (to be disbursed in February 2026); and statutory travel for elected officials for January 2026 (to be disbursed in February 2026). The board also approved the Monthly Mortgage Tax & Certification Fee for January 2026 ($140.00) and the Allocation of Motor Vehicle Tax for January 2026 ($1,768.10). Commissioner names associated with each motion and the recorded aye votes are reflected in the official proceedings.
Commissioner Fredrick moved, and Vice-Chair McClure seconded, to acknowledge the January 2026 jail report; the board recorded the acknowledgement by vote.
Chair Stinson advised no action on agenda Items L and M. Commissioner Fredrick moved to table discussion and approval of the OPEH&W special assessment payment and place it on the Feb. 9, 2026 agenda; McClure seconded and the motion carried.
In departmental updates, Vice-Chair McClure said crews are working on the bridge at State Line and Highway 830, hauling shale and moving graders. Commissioner Fredrick described operations as "business as usual." Chair Stinson reported hauling rock and shale, the start of a project on Ellis Road, that he had visited the state capital, and that he plans to attend CED #8 in March.
The meeting adjourned at 9:36 a.m. after Commissioner Fredrick moved to adjourn and Vice-Chair McClure seconded.
