Residents urge city action on recurring Wendover Road water problem; manager pledges follow-up

During the July 12 public comment period, Dr. Deuce Roberson and Gail Washington described persistent water issues on Wendover Road, including water running under a driveway, sinking driveways and potholes. Washington said water problems have persisted since September 2020, creating mosquito concerns and requiring seasonal spraying.
Roberson asked the city to identify the water source; he said his water bill has not increased and suggested renting diagnostic equipment used by other municipalities. Mayor Eddie Ellington and City Manager Edward T. Blackmon said staff would investigate and report back to Council. Council Member Melissa Elliott noted the City is eligible to apply for a Triangle North Health Care grant (about $20,000) and suggested the water issues could be a possible use for such funds.
Next steps: Staff will examine the site, review water tests already collected, and report findings and options to Council.
