The Town of Canton board unanimously approved several routine and procurement items during its Aug. 22 meeting, including awarding a Camp Hope historian contract to Acme Preservation Services and approving a contract with BLE following a closed session.
The board first approved the minutes of its Aug. 5 meeting after a motion by Alderwoman Mull and a second from Alderman Shepard. The approval was unanimous.
On the Camp Hope agenda item, meeting materials noted that "McGill vetted the responses," and the board accepted the recommendation to award the historian contract to Acme Preservation Services. Alderman Hamlett moved to approve the award, Alderwoman Mull seconded, and all were in favor.
The board entered a closed session under N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(4) at 6:42 p.m. and reconvened at 8:49 p.m. In open session Alderwoman Mull moved to approve a contract with BLE; Alderman Shepard seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
The meeting minutes do not specify terms of the BLE contract beyond the board's approval. The board also set its next regular meeting for Sept. 12, 2024.
