Henderson City Council voted to approve Ordinance 23-23 on Dec. 11, 2023, rezoning an approximately four-acre parcel owned by Ruin Creek Investment LLC from B2A (Highway Commercial “A” District) to OI (Office Institutional District).
Development Services Director Corey Williams described the site as located just south of the State Employees Credit Union on Ruin Creek Road and noted that the rear half of the parcel drops off considerably; he said about half the property would be usable. Manager Edward T. Blackmon confirmed that the rezoning would amend the Comprehensive Land Use Plan and noted that the only vehicular access would be via the State Employees Credit Union where an existing easement agreement is in place.
No members of the public spoke for or against the rezoning during the public hearing. Councilmember Garry D. Daeke moved approval of Ordinance 23-23; Councilmember Ola Thorpe-Cooper seconded the motion. The council approved the ordinance unanimously, with Councilmembers Sara M. Coffey and Jason Spriggs recorded as absent.
The ordinance record is listed in the minutes as Ordinance 23-23; the motion to rezone does not include conditions beyond the use and access clarifications stated by staff.
