King and Queen County Board elects Doris Morris chair, sets 2022 meeting schedule

At its Jan. 10 meeting the King and Queen County Board of Supervisors elected Doris H. Morris as chair, named R.F. Bailey Jr. vice chair, appointed Thomas Swartzwelder clerk for 2022 and adopted a resolution fixing regular meeting and workshop dates, effective immediately.
Doris H. Morris was elected chair of the King and Queen County Board of Supervisors for 2022 on Jan. 10 after a nomination by Supervisor J. M. Burns and a second by Supervisor S. C. Alsop. The motion passed with four ayes; R. F. Bailey Jr. was recorded absent.
On a separate motion the Board nominated R. F. Bailey Jr. as vice chairman for 2022, and the Board appointed County Administrator Thomas J. Swartzwelder as clerk of the Board for 2022. Each motion carried unanimously among members present.
The Board also adopted a resolution, citing Section 15.2-1416 of the Code of Virginia, fixing its regular meetings for 2022 at 7:00 P.M. on the second Monday of each month in the King and Queen Courts and Administration Building, General District Courtroom. The resolution sets the fourth Monday at 6:00 P.M. as the date for workshops and presentations and establishes a continuation rule that, if hazardous weather prevents attendance, meetings shall be continued to the seventh day following the scheduled meeting at the same time and place.
The full 2022 meeting calendar was included with the resolution, with a scheduling note that the October regular meeting was moved to Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2022, and the December work session was canceled because the fourth Monday falls on a state-observed holiday.
