Hueytown council approves multiple nuisance declarations, a patrol vehicle budget amendment and workers' compensation policy

The Hueytown City Council voted unanimously Jan. 27 to adopt a package of resolutions addressing property maintenance and city operations.
The council adopted Resolution 7346 (1024 Rosehill Circle), Resolution 7347 (1702 261st Avenue North), Resolution 7348 (3530 Lee Street), Resolution 7351 (2522 17th Street North), Resolution 7352 (108 Oak Avenue), Resolution 7353 (112 Oak Avenue) and Resolution 7354 (121 Lindberg Road), each declaring weeds, trash and/or an inoperable vehicle on the listed properties to be public nuisances. Council Member Wright moved each of those resolutions with Council Member Randall seconding; Council President Hurliman and Council Members Zinnerman, Randall, Wright and Jacks voted in favor of each motion (5–0).
The council also approved Resolution 7349, amending the FY2026 budget to permit purchase of a replacement police patrol vehicle. Council Member Zinnerman moved adoption, Council Member Jacks seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Members approved Resolution 7350 declaring certain outdated and unusable information technology equipment surplus and authorizing disposal; Council Member Randall moved the resolution with Council Member Zinnerman seconding, and the vote was 5–0.
Resolution 7355 accepted a proposed Workers' Compensation Insurance policy with Travelers Insurance Company; Council Member Wright moved adoption, Council Member Jacks seconded, and the council approved the policy unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting, Council Member Zinnerman presented a bills list totaling $935,148.25 and moved for payment; Council Member Wright seconded and the council approved the expenditures by roll call.
Council President Hurliman presided over the meeting. The minutes record roll-call votes showing the five-member council voting in favor of the listed measures; no opposing votes or abstentions were recorded. The meeting minutes do not record individual dissenting statements.
Ordinance 26-0113-01 (a first reading and public hearing on annexation of property at 1778 Larking Street, Dolomite) received a public hearing and first reading; no members of the public spoke and the hearing was closed. The minutes do not show a vote adopting the ordinance.
