Hudson County to accept $2.09 million HUD award and approves housing-assistance contract amendment

County Administrator Abraham Antun told commissioners the County will accept its Fiscal Year 2024 HUD allocation of $2,093,084 (effective July 1, 2024). The Board also advanced an amendment to a waterfront housing-assistance contract for an additional $69,594.49 and placed a five-year 1199J memorandum of agreement on the agenda for action.
Hudson County announced on March 13 that it will accept a Fiscal Year 2024 award from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development totaling $2,093,084, with the award effective July 1, 2024.
County Administrator Abraham Antun presented the award to the Board during the meeting’s administration update, saying the County would accept the HUD allocation for FY2024. Antun also asked the Board to consider an amendment to a Waterfront Project agreement to add $69,594.49 to cover services the contractor provided helping residents obtain housing assistance.
Antun further told commissioners the County had reached terms on a five-year successor memorandum of agreement with 1199J; the contract schedule as reported to the Board includes periodic percentage increases that the administrator described as retroactive to July 1, 2024.
All of the items were placed on the Board’s agenda for approval. The Board voted to approve the consent agenda, which included these items, during the same meeting.
What this means: The HUD award will be applied according to HUD rules for the programs covered by the grant; the additional Waterfront Project funds reimburse or extend housing-assistance capacity in the near term. The five-year memorandum of agreement with 1199J will proceed to formal action per the Board schedule and rules for contract approvals.
