Board approves school appropriations, personnel changes and routine warrants

At the July 10 meeting the King and Queen County Board of Supervisors approved a set of routine but fiscal and personnel actions.
The board approved a retroactive appropriation of May 2023 revenue to the School Fund in the amount of $1,307,237.75 and appropriated initial local FY24 school funds of $3,797,176. Both motions were moved and seconded and carried unanimously with one member absent (J. M. Burns).
County Administrator Vivian Seay informed the board that the insurance plan previously presented had different benefit details than those she had been shown; staff recommended remaining on the existing plan. The board voted to keep the current county employee insurance plan.
The board approved converting a part‑time deputy registrar position to a shared full‑time post to assist workload across offices; the change was approved by motion of S. C. Alsop and second by D. H. Morris.
Appointments made at the meeting included Melinda Coleman to the Economic Development Authority (Stevensville seat) and Sherrin Alsop to the Planning Commission (Newtown seat). Two items were tabled: the Bay Consortium Workforce Development Board appointment and the Planning Commission/Buena Vista appointment.
The meeting also approved warrants and payroll for July 2023 subject to audit. The board adjourned at 8:12 p.m.
