Commission approves consent items: DFACS reappointment, budget cleanup and project bids

At its Sept. 2 meeting the Commission unanimously approved a slate of routine and project actions including reappointing a DFACS board member, switching retirement plan provider, authorizing Riverbend dock bid solicitation, adopting a year‑end budget cleanup and approving a Caselle payment portal and IPAWS subscription.
The Cusseta–Chattahoochee County Commission unanimously approved a set of consent and action items at its Sept. 2, 2025 regular meeting.
By motion the board reappointed Martha Burgamy to the Department of Family and Children Services board for a term running Sept. 2, 2025–June 30, 2027. The Commission also voted to move the county retirement plan from Corebridge to ACCG.
Infrastructure and procurement actions approved included authorizing the Riverbend fishing dock project to be advertised for bids and approving a year‑end budget cleanup amendment (Exhibit A in the meeting record lists department line‑item adjustments across courthouse utilities, clerk and probate offices, sheriff and EMS salaries, solid waste and water analysis, among others).
Other approved items included the annual DFACS lease renewal, adoption of a Caselle online payment portal for county transactions, and enrollment in GEMA’s IPAWS emergency alert system. Commissioners approved updated travel mileage rates (meal rates unchanged).
Chairman Coffey and County Manager Thomas Weaver also used the meeting and a subsequent Sept. 22 work session to brief commissioners about additional capital items under consideration, including storage for records at 215 McNaughton St., Old City Hall repairs (a single bid received at roughly $96,000), and further work on the Riverbend dock project (a Sept. 22 prebid returned a single contractor bid from Wahoo Docks for $90,582.11; permitting from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is pending). The Commission discussed declaring two county structures surplus for demolition and adding kennel runs at the animal pound; those items were slated for future agenda votes.
