Steele County Commission approves routine business, raises mileage rate to $0.545

The Steele County Commission convened in Finley at 8:55 a.m. on Jan. 2 and unanimously approved the meeting agenda, minutes from December (with added commissioner portfolios for 2018) and payment of December bills.
The board voted to raise the county mileage reimbursement rate to $0.545 per mile, effective Jan. 1, 2018. Commissioner Richard Strand moved the change; the motion carried on a unanimous vote of those present.
The commission approved Lakeview Catering's beer and liquor license applications and authorized returning the commissioners' conference table to Reardons for a full cash refund and purchasing a replacement from Business Essentials. The board also reviewed the county's 2017 expense report and ending fund balances.
The commission announced that Renae Rayner has been hired to fill a position in the Extension office and will begin work Jan. 8. The board also approved installing Razor Tracking in six additional county vehicles, including plow trucks, the county car, the extension pickup, the new motor grader and the sheriff's new pickup.
The meeting adjourned after the board completed its routine business and moved on to other agenda items.
