Council chose Color Group 2 on Oct. 2 for the exterior of the new concession/restroom building at the Camp Verde Sports Complex.
CIP Project Manager Martin Smith described the design process: staff and the Parks & Recreation Commission trimmed an initial 16 color palettes to seven, then the town surveyed the community. Project Manager Smith presented the top three palettes and summarized the Parks & Recreation input. Councilors discussed durability, fading and roof-heat absorption; Vice Mayor Marie Moore noted a dark roof may absorb more heat and referenced the community survey counts, saying that “if 67 citizens picked Option 2 and 39 picked Option 3, my recommendation was Option 2.” Councilor Robin Godwin and others favored Options 2 or 3; Mayor Dee Jenkins emphasized choosing colors that resist fading.
After brief discussion the council voted to approve Color Group 2 for the exterior by motion (6-0; Jackie Baker absent). Staff will proceed with final design and procurement under the approved palette and coordinate with Parks & Recreation for installation timing.
