Chairman Carter Nath called the meeting to order at 8:00 a.m. The board — Supervisors Carter Nath, Howard Haas, Kyle Stecker, Amber Garman and Josh Waechter — unanimously approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from the Feb. 17 session. Veterans Affairs Director Dan Green gave a monthly update, and Jan Ricke of the Kossuth County Historical Society invited the board and department heads to submit ideas to mark the county’s 175th anniversary.
On formal actions, Supervisor Amber Garman moved (seconded by Howard Haas) to authorize Concordia-Triad of Carol Stream, Illinois, to install an underground fiber vault and conduit beginning approximately 1,640 feet south of 300th Street in the west right-of-way of 120th Avenue and extending onto private ground in Section 26 of Burt Township; the permit (02-01-2026) is on file with the county engineer and the motion carried unanimously. Supervisor Kyle Stecker moved (seconded by Josh Waechter) to authorize Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative of Estherville to retire about one mile of overhead line and to replace and anchor specified poles in Sections 29 and 32 in Harrison Township; Permit 02-02-2026 is on file and the motion carried unanimously.
The board accepted the Planning & Zoning recommendation to set a public hearing on the Solar Ordinance for March 17 at 9:00 a.m. (motion by Kyle Stecker; second by Josh Waechter). The transcript records that an earlier discussion of the Planning & Zoning recommendation had been paused pending clarification from the county attorney; the later motion reflects that the board moved to set the hearing date.
