Mount Pleasant CDRA approves $299,030 in claims; director reports grants and pending reimbursements

The Mount Pleasant City Community Development & Renewal Agency Board on Feb. 10 approved $299,030 in claims and received updates from Executive Director Monte Bona on several local projects and pending reimbursements.
The board approved the minutes from its Jan. 13 regular meeting after a motion by Board Member Lynn Beesley and a second from Board Member Cade Beck. It then considered an invoice register for Jan. 1–31, 2026, totaling $299,030.00; Board Member Cade Beck moved to approve the claims and Board Member Russell G. Keisel seconded. The transcript records the roll call for the claims approval as Councilman Beesley, Councilman Howcroft, Councilman Keisel, Councilman Black and Councilman Beck; the motion carried.
Executive Director Monte Bona told the board that all reimbursement requests have been submitted and processed but that recent changes at the Utah Department of Transportation have caused processing delays. He said the State Treasurer's Office should issue a final check within the next few days and that "approximately $30,000" remains forthcoming for the Arena Project.
Bona also updated the board on local capital and preservation projects. He said the park project received a $288,000 grant and that a final reimbursement request for $72,000 has been submitted. He reported that Main Street restoration work is continuing with $200,000 in funding. Additional funding through the Mormon National Pioneer Heritage Area will support repair work on the Wasatch Block Building and the Triangle Apartments, Bona said.
Separately, Bona described a collaboration between the RDA and the Mormon National Pioneer Heritage Area with the Millet Foundation on a rural history project documenting stories of local Downwinders; he said the effort has helped residents identify parents and grandparents who were Downwinders.
The board moved to adjourn at 6:11 p.m.; Board Member Russell G. Keisel made the motion and Board Member Jakob Howcroft seconded. The motion carried and the meeting concluded.
