Bay Minette Council approves $887,692.06 in payables, awards contracts and funds local All-Star team

At its July 17, 2023 meeting the Bay Minette City Council approved payables totaling $887,692.06 and unanimously passed a package of resolutions covering grant funding, board reappointments, procurement and a local sports sponsorship.
Mayor Robert A. Wills asked for approval of the payables for July 17, 2023 in the amount of $887,692.06. Councilmember William Taylor moved to approve the payables; Mayor Pro Tempore Mike Phillips seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council then considered a series of resolutions. Mayor Pro Tempore Mike Phillips moved to approve Resolution 0723-01 (Airport Improvement Grant Funding); Councilmember William Taylor seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Councilmember Pete Sellers moved to approve Resolution 0723-02 reappointing members of the City of Bay Minette Board of Adjustment; Councilmember Matt Franklin seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council awarded the Bay Minette Soccer Complex bid to Arrington Curb and Excavation by approving Resolution 0723-03; Councilmember Matt Franklin moved and Councilmember William Taylor seconded. The council approved Resolution 0723-04 (Musco Lighting Sourcewell contract) after a motion from Councilmember Pete Sellers and a second from Councilmember Matt Franklin. The council also approved Resolution 0723-05 to sponsor the Bay Minette 14-U All Stars for regional playoff play in the amount of $1,500; Mayor Pro Tempore Mike Phillips moved the resolution and Councilmember Matt Franklin seconded. The minutes break the sponsorship funding down as $250 from the mayor and $250 from each of five district accounts.
Mayor Wills formally recognized the Bay Minette 14-U All Star Baseball Team as state champions during the meeting roster announcement. Councilmember Pete Sellers expressed appreciation for the team’s support and the sponsorship vote. The meeting adjourned after a motion from Councilmember Sellers, seconded by Councilmember Taylor; that motion also carried unanimously.
