Nelson County Commission approves minutes and bills, tables staffing and budget items

Chairman Cody Johnson presided over routine business at the June 4 meeting of the Nelson County Commission, including approval of meeting minutes and the agenda. Commissioner Steve Forde moved to approve minutes from May 21 and 24, Commissioner Aaron Mork seconded, and the motion carried unanimously.
The commission also approved the day's agenda after adding a Federal Aid Contract item (motion to approve the agenda: Commissioner Cameron Swenson; second: Commissioner Aaron Mork). Later in the meeting Commissioners approved bills as presented (motion: Commissioner Cameron Swenson; second: Commissioner Aaron Mork), again on a unanimous roll-call vote.
Mary Kay Schuh offered a public comment requesting updates to minutes and county boards on the website; Auditor Nathan Parks was directed to investigate updating the posted information. Traci Lagein, County Agent, requested converting a part-time assistant position to full time; the commission tabled that staffing request until the June 18 meeting for more information.
Commissioners provided brief portfolio updates: Aaron Mork on the Highway Department; Cameron Swenson on park matters; Mike Haugland on the Sheriff’s Department; Cody Johnson noted the county shop in Lakota needs cleaning and organization; Steve Forde reported on NDACo matters. With no further business the commission moved to adjourn (motion: Commissioner Aaron Mork; second: Commissioner Mike Haugland) and the meeting ended.
