The Nelson County Commission voted to advertise for engineering services and approved a North Dakota Department of Transportation resolution to advance the SC-3200(051) chip-seal project. Highway Superintendent Curt Loe joined the meeting to present road and bridge business before the board moved on the project.
"Moved by Commissioner Swenson and seconded by Commissioner Mork" to advertise the engineering request for proposals, the board record shows. Commissioners later voted to approve the DOT resolution for the SC-3200(051) project; on the roll call vote all members recorded “Yes.”
The action directs county staff to publicly advertise an engineering RFP so that the project may proceed under NDOT oversight. The commission took no separate budget vote on construction funding during the meeting.
The commission’s decision follows routine county procedures to secure engineering oversight and aligns the county with NDOT’s procurement and oversight requirements for chip-seal work. Highway leadership indicated the item is part of scheduled road maintenance and sealing operations.
