The Steele County Park Board met Aug. 7 and reviewed operational and project items related to Golden Lake Acres.
Park employee Jake Dickson reported maintenance needs at Golden Lake Acres, including water-heater work and unauthorized dumpster use; the board asked him to provide a prioritized list of maintenance requests at the next meeting. The board noted that 74 loads of sand were delivered to the beach to improve the frontage and thanked Dickson for his work.
The Park Board discussed the campground improvement project at length and approved two actions: to apply for and pay a $70 zoning-variance fee related to septic and camper placement near the shore, and to obtain a final survey for the project (motions by Commissioner Randy Richards and Commissioner Ted Johnson; unanimous). The board instructed Dickson to keep campers informed about project progress and discussed possibly staying open after Labor Day with shortened hours.
The Park Board adjourned at 9:16 a.m.
