Steele County Park Board updates campground operations, approves lease‑lot transfer

The Steele County Park Board met Nov. 6, 2018 in Finley and reviewed campground operations and maintenance needs.
Chairman Russell Walcker presided over the meeting attended by park board members and operator Jake Dickson. Dickson reported that wet weather has delayed electrical and plumbing work at the campground and said he plans to keep Golden Lake Acres open only on weekends for the rest of the year. The board agreed the county shop will handle snow removal for the store parking lot during winter.
Auditor Emily Wigen provided a list of eight campers who had not paid the required winter deposit; the board noted those parties would not be guaranteed a campground spot for the 2019 season. Dickson said he will arrange for kitchen hood cleaning and will invite Josh Kolenda with Kolenda Heating and Cooling to the December meeting to discuss a disputed water‑heater bill.
The board approved a lease‑lot transfer from Hegg to Qualheim on a motion by Randy Richards, seconded by Matt Roller; all members voted yes. The Park Board then adjourned.
