County to add handicap parking at Lower Volunteer Fire Station after polling-place review

During the Feb. 22 Board of Supervisors meeting, county staff reported that a recent review of polling-place locations revealed the Lower Volunteer Fire Station precinct no longer has a handicap parking space.
Mr. Swartzwelder said he will coordinate with the contractor who recently installed the handicap parking space at the Health Department to have a space added at the fire station. The Board did not take a formal vote; the item was recorded as staff direction to arrange the work.
The matter was raised as part of precinct-location review and was presented by staff; no timelines or cost estimates were provided in the meeting minutes. Staff will notify the Board when arrangements are made or the work is completed.
