The Henderson City Council on June 12 approved a resolution that authorizes the City Manager to approve or deny one-time permits for alcohol sales and consumption on city streets and property following a review by the Special Events Committee.
City Manager Edward T. Blackmon said the Special Events Committee—which consists of the Police Chief, Fire Chief, Public Works Director and the Assistant City Manager—will review requests and make a recommendation to the City Manager, who will have final authority to approve or deny the permit.
Councilmember Garry D. Daeke moved approval of Resolution 23-22; Councilmember D. Michael Rainey seconded and the resolution passed unanimously. The action centralizes permit decisions with the City Manager after multi-departmental review and is recorded in Resolution Book 7.
