Henderson approves one-year audit contract with Thompson, Price, Scott & Adams

The Henderson City Council unanimously approved a one-year audit contract with Thompson, Price, Scott, Adams & CO., P.A. on June 12.
City Manager Edward T. Blackmon said the firm, which has performed the city’s audit in previous years, will complete the fiscal year 2022–23 audit by Oct. 31, 2023. Finance Director Joey Fuqua told council the fee for the work will not exceed $55,650 and that the contract was not put out for competitive bid; Fuqua explained that auditing municipal governments is labor intensive and fewer audit firms pursue that work.
Mayor Eddie Ellington added that prior solicitations produced only one respondent. Councilmember Garry D. Daeke moved approval of Resolution 23-18 and Councilmember Rainey seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The resolution is recorded in Resolution Book 7 and the city will move forward with the contracted audit schedule.
