At the Sept. 11 meeting the Henderson City Council reviewed the Consent Agenda, which included a Tax Releases & Refunds report from Vance County for July 2023 showing total refunds, releases and discoveries of $302,764.55.
Councilmember Garry D. Daeke questioned the large total and asked for further explanation. Finance Director Joey Fuqua said he would investigate and provide a detailed summary; Council agreed to remove CAF 23-57 (Tax Releases & Refunds from Vance County for the Month of July 2023) from the consent agenda. After removing that item for separate consideration at the Oct. 9 council meeting, the adjusted Consent Agenda was approved by motion of Councilmember Melissa Elliott, seconded by Councilmember Sara M. Coffey, and passed unanimously.
The minutes do not record detailed line-item explanations for the $302,764.55 total beyond the categories listed in the report (personal property billed in error, gap bill discoveries, and city discoveries).
