Council okays two properties for SHARP supportive housing application, including a $7,500 city purchase

The Henderson City Council unanimously approved Resolution 23-31 on Sept. 11 to include two supplemental properties in the Vance County Housing Authority’s (VCHA) application to the North Carolina Housing Finance Agency under the Supportive Housing American Rescue Plan (SHARP).
City Manager E. Terrell Blackmon said VCHA advanced through the first phase of the application and needs a minimum of 10 units to proceed to the final phase. One proposed supplemental property is already City-owned (PIN 0058 04002); the second (PIN 0096 06017) would require the City to purchase it for $7,500 to meet the unit minimum. Councilmember Melissa Elliott said she was honored to provide a letter of reference and mentioned Gang Free Inc. keeps homelessness data that aids service delivery.
Councilmember Elliott moved approval; Councilmember Sara M. Coffey seconded and the resolution passed unanimously. The minutes cite Resolution 23-31 as the authorizing action.
