Executive Director Anna Tobin told the Fairfield County Board of Commissioners on March 3 that the Senior Hub–Meals on Wheels served 3,160 clients and delivered 314,049 meals over the past year and that the organization is expanding into the second floor of its building.
"We served 3,160 clients and delivered 314,049 meals over the past year," Anna Tobin said, and she reported the average client age is 78. Tobin said 58% of clients live in Lancaster, 17% in Pickerington and 6% in Baltimore, Ohio; she credited voter-approved levies and operational changes for the program’s stable finances and recent growth.
Tobin described the Pickerington location as operating like a restaurant, where clients come in daily and a chef prepares meals. When Commissioner David Levacy asked whether Meals on Wheels coordinates with Job and Family Services on elder-abuse concerns, Tobin said staff regularly call clients and delivery drivers are trained to recognize and report signs of abuse.
Ray Stemen of Lancaster offered public comment, expressing appreciation for Meals on Wheels’ services and offering a prayer.
