Forestry committee awards $46,830 grant-funded contract for Indian Village GMA development and approves equipment, APHIS and code updates

Schultz moved and Briggs seconded a notice-for-bids to replace a 2002 forestry utility trailer used to transport a Gravely mower; the committee approved the notice and intends to sell the old trailer at auction, with remaining funds coming from the Forestry Equipment account.
Briggs moved and Schultz seconded approval of the 2026 Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) cooperative agreement to mitigate beaver issues on county forest lands; the motion passed unanimously.
Nemec also briefed the committee on proposed updates to county code ordinances related to recent changes in dispersed camping and campground regulations and online registrations. Schultz moved to approve the proposed ordinance updates; Briggs seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The committee received an invoices report showing vouchers for January totaling $82,999.92, including $60,930.42 for grant-funded and reimbursed expenses. Notable items included a grant-funded ATV trail rehabilitation project for $58,339.32 and an operational payment of $12,450 to RASTA for the first half of the 2026 trail maintenance contract.
All motions recorded at the meeting carried with unanimous "aye" votes. The committee did not attach additional conditions to these approvals and listed related items, such as timber sale extensions, for future discussion on the March agenda.
