Hueytown council approves multiple special-assessment liens, nuisance abatements, licenses and budget amendment

At its Jan. 13 meeting the Hueytown City Council unanimously adopted a package of resolutions creating special-assessment liens on several properties, declaring nuisances and ordering abatements, approved an alcohol license and event fee waiver, authorized an IT managed-services agreement and amended the FY2026 budget to repair the jail generator.
Hueytown’s City Council unanimously adopted a bundle of resolutions on Jan. 13 that included special-assessment liens on multiple properties, nuisance-abatement orders, an alcohol license approval, a fee waiver for the local farmers market, authorization for an IT managed-services contract and a budget amendment for jail-generator repairs.
The council approved Resolution 7332 to create a special-assessment lien on 112 Vann Street and passed successive, similar resolutions (7333–7338 and 7337) placing liens on properties at addresses including 1549 27th Avenue North, 1701 and 1709 27th–28th Avenue North, 1731 28th Avenue North, 2808 Canterbury Road and 1638 Virginia Lane. The motions to adopt those resolutions were made and seconded by council members and carried by unanimous roll call votes.
The council also adopted Resolution 7339, declaring a public nuisance at 330 Harlem Avenue (weeds, trash and/or an inoperable vehicle) and ordering its abatement; Resolution 7340 similarly declared a nuisance at 1718 25th Avenue North and Resolution 7341 declared that same address an unsafe structure and ordered corrective action. Each measure passed 5–0.
Administrative approvals included Resolution 7342, which approved an alcohol license for the Liquor Outlet at 3014 Allison Bonnett Memorial Drive; Resolution 7343, which granted a special-events fee waiver to the Hueytown Harvest Farmers Market for events March–August 2026 at Garywood Assembly of God; and Resolution 7344, authorizing the mayor to execute a managed-services support proposal from AllTech Computer Works. Resolution 7345 amended the FY2026 budget to fund repairs to the jail’s emergency electrical generator; the minutes do not specify the amendment amount.
Council Member Wright made many of the motions to adopt the resolutions and Council Member Jacks frequently seconded; other items were moved by Council Members Zinnerman or Randall as recorded in the meeting minutes. Each roll call recorded votes in favor by Council President Hurliman and Council Members Zinnerman, Randall, Wright and Jacks.
The council also approved a list of bills totaling $759,687.12 covering multiple city accounts, on a motion by Council Member Zinnerman and second by Council Member Randall.
The actions are procedural and administrative in nature; the minutes record no substantive debate on the resolutions. Any property owners subject to liens or nuisance orders will receive formal notice as required by applicable city processes and codes.
